IFSAM Conversation Letter 1 on 16th Congress
16 October 2022
Universities in general and management schools in particular are required to demonstrate the integrity and value of their work to society. While the responsible research movement has made significant inroads in this regard, there remains a lack of awareness and some distrust from external stakeholders in relation to the quality and integrity of the research and education delivered by management schools. This round table discussion centres around three key questions; What is responsible management research and how does it contribute to the discipline’s integrity? Do management schools pursue excellence in the way they teach? Is such teaching relevant to the society that exists today, and the society we wish to create? This session will explore the extent to which management research meets the principles of responsible research, whether management school teaching and learning practices pursue integrity, how we evaluate such integrity and how we demonstrate its value to society.
