Institutional Information
The structure:
- Foundation recognized as a non-profit public utility.
- Established since 1968.
- Jointly governed by representatives of the State, enterprises and business schools.
- Financed by French public authorities and enterprises.
The missions:
- To support French business schools development.
- To develop and improve the quality of French training programs in management and business administration.
- To promote stronger ties between education and industry.
- To create and support pedagogical innovations.
- To develop and spread, in France and abroad, French research in management sciences.
- To export French management teaching know-how.
The main activities:
- Collaboration among the network of about 85 French management schools (Universities and IAEs: Paris-Dauphine, Paris I Sorbonne…, and business schools: HEC, ESSEC, ESCP, EM Lyon…)
- Supplying the main examination entrance tests to most French-speaking undergraduate and graduate management programs (similar to the GMAT for English-speaking programs),
- Granting academic awards for the best PhD Thesis, academic papers, books, pedagogical innovations, case studies, …
- On behalf of the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research, managing the French student entrepreneur network
- Publishing a ranking of the best international academic journals, the FNEGE « list »
- Organization of meetings and conferences on management education,
- Organization of doctoral methodological seminars within the CEFAG (European Center for Training in Management)
- In partnership with EFMD, the European Foundation for Management Development, FNEGE is assessing the impact of business schools through the BSIS, the Business School Impact System, a framework of 120 indicators covering 7 dimensions including financial, economic, societal and image dimensions of impact. - Training programs for business schools’ faculty and staff
- Setting up management programs and projects abroad in collaboration with French Public authorities (Ministry of Foreign Affairs…) and international bodies for cooperation assistance (World Bank, UNDP, ILO, EEC).
- Providing technical assistance to foreign management centers.
- Managing graduate management programs abroad (DBAs, MBAs, Masters) in collaboration with French business schools and local academic partners,
- Publishing surveys and observatories on research and education in the field of management
- Coordinating a company network « FNEGE Cercle des Entreprises » to promote contact with management researchers.
